Acoustic Door Installation at Christian College in Upper Swan

This project took place at a Christian college in Upper Swan. The school’s administration sought to upgrade the acoustic integrity of the main music room. To achieve this, they hired us to install two 300kg custom-made acoustic doors which were shipped over from Victoria.  The doors were installed at either end of the music room to provide enhanced soundproofing and create an optimal environment for the music students to rehearse.

We began by removing the existing doors. The new doors had been custom made to fit the existing door frames. The two acoustic doors were specifically designed and manufactured to meet the high soundproofing standards required by the college. Each door weighed 300kg and was constructed from high-density materials to minimise sound transmission between spaces.

Given the weight and size of the doors, traditional installation methods were insufficient. The team instead utilised a genie lift, a type of equipment used for safely lifting and positioning heavy objects, to carefully fit the doors into place.

Once the doors were lifted into position, the team focused on ensuring a snug fit within the door frames to maintain the acoustic integrity of the room. The seals around the doors were carefully checked to certify no sound would escape.

The project was completed successfully, with both custom-made acoustic doors installed at either end of the music room. The doors provided a significant improvement in the soundproofing of the space, allowing students and instructors to focus on their music without disturbing adjacent rooms.
